Speir family genealogical research papers, [ca. 1757-1940]

Genealogical notes and charts, clippings of late 19th - mid 20th century obituaries, and correspondence between Speir and family members, 1930s. These were produced by Speir's genealogical research on the Speir and related Cosman, Rodman, and Sabin families. Also included are late 19th - early 20th century portrait photographs of members of the Speir and Rodman families; marriage certificate, 1860, of William W. Speir and Jane Rodman, Newburgh, N.Y.; a photocopy of a flyleaf of book recording Hugh Speir's marriage in 1757 and the births of his children between 1758 and 1773; correspondence, 1862-1863, from William A. Speir, Paymaster and Steward aboard the U.S.S. WAFFORD in South Carolina during the Civil War, to his mother and brother in which he discusses family matters and his activities, including preparations to take Charleston "in a day or so" (April 3, 1863); and copies of birth certificates of members of the Speir family.
